Featured Designer–Amanda Thorderson

Hi Digitals Friends! I’m thrilled to be the Featured Designer from May 11-24! I’ve been selling my digital designs at Digitals for seven years now and I’ve gotten to know so many wonderful people whom I consider friends! I want to let you know a little about me!

Amanda-FD_600

1. Do you keep a wishlist? If so, what is your MOST WANTED item at the moment? Pinterest is my wishlist! My most wanted item right now would be a really cool bed for my daughter’s fairy room that we are designing. I’ve been gathering ideas on Pinterest but haven’t come up with the perfect bed yet!

2. What is your designing routine, i.e. do you get a snack, put on music, get organized and then work on a kit until its finished or do you pop in and out as time allows? I usually sneak into my work room when no one is looking. If I announce it, suddenly everyone needs me! I’ll usually grab a snack and a drink so I don’t have to leave for anything! I try to sneak in some time during the day if I have some time off work, otherwise, I have to wait for the weekend.

3. When you scrap, do you use your own products? Yes, but I also use favorite designer products. Because my time is limited, if I need a specific kit for an album I’m doing, I will search for that specific kit.

I love to use Glenda Ketcham’s “Most Wonderful Place” series. We try to go to Disneyland each year and this kit is perfect for that!

I also love P’tite Studio Katia’s designs. She has this gorgeous set of stamps that I’ve been eyeing! “Odysee de Coleurs Nature Stamps”

4. What is your all-time favorite product OR what is your best selling product(s)? I have a few all-time favorites (that also happen to be my best sellers too!) I love Millcreek Canyon, America the Beautiful, Les Jardins du Manior, Superstitious, Wild Mood Swings and I is for Imagination!

5. What are your reasons or motivations for digital scrapbooking? I love family history and genealogy and this is a natural extension of those. It’s such a great way to record your family memories. Plus, it’s not messy!

6. What is the best food you ever ate? Describe. In Chicago, I had the most amazing chocolate lava cake–it melted in my mouth! In San Diego it was scallops, and in England I had to-die-for fish and chips! Yum!

7. Where is your “happy place?” The beach, specifically Mexico Beach, Florida, but I’ll take any beach really!

8. If you won the lottery, how would you spend the winnings? After paying off bills and setting aside money for travel, I would start a charitable foundation benefitting women, children, refugees and victims of sexual violence.

9. If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, who would you chose and what would you want to talk about? I would love to have time with my infant daughter that we lost 22 years ago. I would also love to meet Martin Luther King, Junior and talk to him about changing the world.

10. What else should we know about you? I am passionate, funny, generous to a fault, and crazy busy!

I hope you enjoy my newest kit “Couture Add On” made especially for the Featured Designer Daily Download. Look for coordinating products too!

Featured Designer – Kathryn Estry

Hi, Friends! I’m so excited to be Digitals’ Featured Designer and happy to share a few things about myself. I’m a wife, mother, and a Nana! I recently retired from a lifetime of teaching, and Robert and I and our sweet little kitty, Amber, packed up everything in our home in Houston and are now living in and loving Fort Worth. It’s especially awesome here because my daughter, Brandi, lives here with her husband, Ryan, and almost 4-year-old Lincoln, and my son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Audra, are only an hour away in Frisco, north of Dallas. They have 3-year-old Jack and Olivia who’s about to have her 1st birthday. Yep. We’re in Nana and Papa heaven!

Now that I’m retired and all moved, I can totally get some great designing time in, so look out! This is my 8th year to be a digital designer, and I’ve been here at Digitals almost all of that time. I love to design “from cute to gorgeous,” and you can find both of these styles in my Digitals store! My Daily Download kit is ready for springy, feminine, heritage layouts, and I hope you like it!

Kathy Black posted this pretty layout with Coral Rose 1 ~

Matching Coral Rose 1 is Coral Rose 2. It will be available for purchase on April 1 in my store but will also be the Digitals Free-With-Purchase kit (April 1-15) and will be automatically added to your cart for free with any Digitals order of $15 or more.

My entire Digitals store is on sale for 30% off during my Featured Designer time, and this includes my CU products and all kits, bundles, and printables. Visit my store HERE.

1. Do you keep a wishlist? If so, what is your MOST WANTED item at the moment? My wish list doesn’t really have things on it. I wish I could have more time in each day and more energy to do everything I want to do.

2. What is your designing routine, i.e. do you get a snack, put on music, get organized and then work on a kit until it’s finished or do you pop in and out as time allows? I almost always have my lime water with me, and often I watch TV or listen to a book on tape while I’m working.  It’s pretty quiet around here with just us and our kitty, so I do spend quite a bit of uninterrupted time designing.

3. When you scrap, do you use your own products?  Yes, I usually use my own kits, but I have several really cute sets from other designers that I like to use for my grandkids’ books.

4. What is your all-time favorite product OR what is your best selling product(s)?  I have so much fun making my cute kits with characters like Tiger Town and Kangaroo Kisses,

and I also love my more elegant kits, such as Grandma’s Breezeway and Date Night.

My favorites change often but right now they’re Livi’s Smile and Liz Landing.

5. What are your reasons or motivations for digital scrapbooking? That’s easy. I love it! I’m not much of a cook, and if it wasn’t for Robert, we wouldn’t have any live plants around here, but I thrill at creating papers and elements on my computer.

6. What is the best food you ever ate? Describe. It’s got to be really tender baby back ribs. Robert takes me out every year for my birthday, and we get the ribs every time.

7. Where is your “happy place?” My happy place is outside at a park on a beautiful day with just a little breeze and a good book.

8. If you won the lottery, how would you spend the winnings? I’d make sure my kids and grandkids had everything they needed and enough put aside for their education, I’d make a large donation to the women’s center here in Fort Worth which does amazing work, and I’d like to travel to meet a lot of my online friends.

9. If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, who would you chose and what would you want to talk about?  I’d like to meet Albert Einstein and Leonardo DaVinci. I’ve studied the lives and wonders of these two great individuals, and what conversations we’d have!

10. What else should we know about you? I love to dance! I love the choreography and the speed, and dancing really fast for 3 hours straight is a lot more fun than going to the gym! Thanks for taking the time to read about me.

Make sure to stop by my Digitals store every day between March 30 and April 12 to collect pieces of this pretty new kit, Coral Rose 1. If you miss any of the daily downloads, you can purchase this kit in my store on sale. Watch also for new products to show up throughout these two weeks, and remember that you can get all of my designs for 30% off.

A big thank you to all of my customers here at Digitals!

I’m so excited to be Digital’s featured designer March 16th-29th. To celebrate I will be offering a 35% discount in my store during the same time. In addition I created a special collection just for this event called Love Grows .

The heart is an extrondinary organ. You might think it has a particular capacity for love, but you’d be wrong. It seems as soon as we fill our hearts with love, it magically expands and makes room for more. As my family has expanded, through step-children, daughter-in-laws, and grandchildren I find there is more than enough room for them all! Love Grows celebrates this phenomenon. Perfect to scrap pages about the people you love!

The Love Grows collection includes: an Element Pak, a Paper Pak, an Embellished Words Pak and an Alpha Pak. As always these are available as individual packs or purchase one of the value packs and save 25% with the Complete Kit (includes Paper Pak and Element Pak) or save 35% by buying the Collection Pak (includes the Paper Pak, Element Pak, Embellished Words Pak, and Alpha Pak). This collection also includes two quick packs; Cluster Frame Pak and Paper Stack Pak and an Add-On kit.  The Love Grows Add-On Kit is also the daily download March 16th through March 29th. You can collect the add-on kit with a free  daily download March 16th – March 29th, or purchase the Love Grows Add-On for just $2  it if that’s more convenient for you or you miss a day or two.

Interview

1. Do you  keep a wishlist? If so, what is your MOST WANTED item at the moment?

No I don’t do that currently. Before I entered into designing I did purchase more kits from other designers and did keep a wish list while I was actively purchasing other designer’s kits.

2. What  is your designing routine, i.e. do you get a snack, put on music, get organized  and then work on a kit until its finished or do you pop in and out as time  allows?
I usually grab coffee or water before I settle in to design. Then I work on coming up with theme. Next I decide on a color palette. I get inspiration from just about everywhere. It could be a printed fabric, a painting, a garden and when I’m stuck, I do an Internet search. Once I have that put together I begin gathering ideas for word art and elements I like to include. Then I begin designing the papers first. Once those are done I can create elements that work well on the papers. Then I create the alphabet and last the word art. I consider those 4 packs my collection. Next I work on creating stacked papers and cluster frames. I use this creative process to also to be sure the collection is scrapable. Once in a while I go back and tweek some of the elements based on using the kit. I QC (quality check) each item as I create them. I check for resolution, size, photo sharpness, stray pixels and be sure paper patterns are lined up. Then I convert the files from Photoshop documents to png files or jpg files for papers. I once again QC each item and trim the file. I create mostly in collections and allow my customers to buy individual packs (paper, element, word art and alphabet), or value packs (kit and collection) with a significant discount. In additon I offer quick packs (stacked papers, cluster frames and occasionally quick pages) for most of my collections. Once I start on a collection I stick with it until it’s done. Then I move into the marketing phase.
3. When you scrap, do you use your own products?
Almost exclusively I use my own product. I find it helps me improve the scrapability of my own kits and I have only so much time, lol!
4. What is your  all-time favorite product OR what is your best selling product(s)?
My all time best selling product is Roots of Love, but a close second is The Orient. It’s so hard to pick a favorite kit. I put so much time and effort into each collection that I feel like they’re my “babies,” lol! It seems with each new collection I create it becomes my favorite.
ccl_rootsoflove_com_1ccl_theorient_com_1R
5. What  are your reasons or motivations for digital scrapbooking?
I got into digital scrapbooking when my second grandson was born. I had my first digital camera and tons of photos I wanted to scrap. The night he was born I was in my office downloading the photos and looking at the pile of photos and unfinished scrapbook pages in the corner of my office. It made me sad and I didn’t want that to happen to these photos. Being the perfectionist I am, even when I paper scrapped I always did a template in photoshop, so I could be happy with the layout before I cut any paper. That night I thought, “what if I color in the paper” and actually add the photos to my templates, rather than just a placeholder box?” Well that’s what I did. I even manually added beveled frames to the photos (didn’t know about layer styles yet, lol!), added a title and some journalling and there it was…my first digital page. I then searched the Internet to see if anyone else was doing this and yes there were a few digital scrapbook communities back in 2004!
6. What is the best  food you ever ate? Describe.
I’m going to cheat here and give you a drink instead. I love Starbuck’s Iced Chai Tea! It’s a spiced black tea with lots of skim milk poured over ice. I’d take it over food most any time. I think that’s called an addiction, lol!
7. Where is your “happy place?”
Anywhere my grandkids are. I have 5 grandkids, all boys and 1 on the way. Being a grandmother runs a close tie to being a mother. Of all the things I have done in my life, personally or professionally, that’s been the most rewarding.
8. If you won  the lottery, how would you spend the winnings?
My husband and I are self-employed. He has invented a revolutionary product for the screen printing industry that his company sells. It has been a long, and difficult road, but the business is starting to take off. I also struggle with Fibromyalgia. Until recently my health was poor. I haven’t been unable to hold down a regular job, which is how I ended up designing. Needless to say between the new business and lack of health insurance our finances have been stresses, so I would pay off all my debt.
9. If you could meet anyone,  dead or alive, who would you chose and what would you want to talk about?
I think it would have to be my father. He was the most interesting man and I miss him and his counsil. There were many things I’ve discussed with my father over the years but his insight to our government here in the US and politics, I miss dearly.
10.  What else should we know about you?
I am a very spiritual woman. I love gardening and the outdoors. I have always been a crafty person…I think I’ve tried it all. Photography, digital scrapbooking, sewing, card making, floral arrangements and interior decorating are the perenial things I return to time and time again. I have an advid interest in ancient sites and the history these reveal. Having worked for a Japanesed owned company I’ve had the pleasure of traveling to Japan and learning much about their culture. I so enjoy the differences in people and cultures and hope to experience many more.

Interview

Q.   Do you keep a wishlist? If so, what is your MOST WANTED item at the moment?
A.  I don’t keep a wish list.  When I have a need for something, either I make it myself or I go on a search for it in my favorite designers’ stores.    In scrapbooking, I have a definite need for instant gratification.  I think this is because when I am in the middle of a project, be it a new collection or just a new layout, I’m in this zone that it is hard for me to leave until the project is finished.

Q.  What is your designing routine, i.e. do you get a snack, put on music, get organized and then work on a kit until its finished or do you pop in and out as time allows?
A.
I like to grab a cup of coffee before I sit down at the computer.  Some kits come easier than others.  If I’ve got my mojo on, and the ideas are flowing I can work for hours on end.  If not, then I get up from the computer and do something else.  Inevitably (usually in the middle of the night), the ideas start to come.  I keep a journal at the computer and one in my purse for jotting down ideas for color schemes and elements that seem to pop into my head at the oddest moments.  My family and friends all know that nothing is exempt from becoming an element or kit idea.  My very first kit “Spring Greens” was inspired by my mother-in-law’s shower curtain!

Q. When you scrap, do you use your own products?
A.  Of course I use my own products—I tend to like most of them a lot (LOL)!  But, I also scrap with other designers kits, how could I not?  There are so many great designers out there whose work I admire, and when I see something I like, I buy it.  I might not use it right away, I might even forget that I have it, but when I find it again it’s like a brand new treat all over again.

Q. What is your all-time favorite product OR what is your best selling product(s)?
A. That’s a tough question, because I think every time I design a kit it becomes my new favorite.  I’ve been designing for almost seven years now and it still seems like I learn something new every day that will help make each kit better than the last.  If I had to choose a favorite kit, though, I think I would choose Memory Lane.  I think my heritage kits are my best work.

Q. What are your reasons or motivations for digital scrapbooking?
A. I truly want to leave a legacy for future generations.  I have always been the family historian.  I can trace my mother’s paternal ancestry back to the 1700’s at this point.  I am currently (or should I say “still”) working on a project I call “The Never-ending Story”.  It will be a family history album that each of my six brothers and sisters will receive a copy of when it’s done.

Actually, if you ask my husband, he will tell you that I’m obsessed with scrapbooking, but I like to think that I’m more passionate than obsessed.

Q. What is the best food you ever ate? Describe.
A. Another tough question.  My mother, my grandmothers, myself, and all of my sisters are excellent cooks so I’ve had plenty of great food in my lifetime.  I love to eat out and try new and interesting cuisine.  I had the best veal scaloppini I ever ate at a restaurant on the river, years ago.  Once I discovered it I got it every time we went there.  I have yet to find a recipe that compares to it.  That restaurant closed down over ten years and I still think about it.  In fact, my mouth is watering as I type…

While it’s actually not “food”, but I have to mention International Delight’s Almond Joy coffee creamer.  I drink my coffee black, but this stuff is wonderful added to hot chocolate, or just plain warm milk.  I also like to add it into some of my recipes, like French toast, or pour some into my hot cereal in the morning.

Q. Where is your “happy place?”
A. My happy place is anywhere that I am surrounded by family and friends. That usually means home.  I love our home—it’s a simple, comfortable place to hang out, both indoors and out.

Q. If you won the lottery, how would you spend the winnings?
A. Finally, an easy question!  I would pay off all my debt, set my son up in his own dinner theater business, build myself a smaller house, and travel.  I would also pay off all six of my siblings and my husband’s siblings mortgages and help them out in any way I could.

Q. If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, who would you chose and what would you want to talk about?
A. As I have been working on my heritage album again recently, I think I would like to speak to my great-grandfather Moise Belleck.  He was a full-blooded Indian from Canada.  He worked as a lumberjack all over the country.  I’m sure that he could fill in a lot of blanks for me as far as that part of the family is concerned.

Q. What else should we know about you?
A. I am a very laid-back, open and honest individual.  I am a voracious reader.  I read every night before I go to bed.  The fact is, I can’t remember the last time I didn’t read at night.  It must have been when my son was young!  I could live happily in a world with no television.  I love board games, word games and puzzles, and Sudoku.  I prefer coffee over tea, dark chocolate over milk chocolate, and red wine over white.

Featured Designer: Glenda Ketcham

Hey, everyone. I’m happy to be the Digitals Featured Designer from December 22, 2012 to January 4, 2013. My store will be 30% off during that time. And . . . you will receive the following kit, a few pieces each day during the two weeks I’m the Featured Designer.

Interview:

1. Do you keep a wishlist? If so, what is your MOST WANTED item at the moment?

ANSWER: Digital scrapbooking wishlist: I don’t really keep an ongoing wishlist. I usually buy for the current layouts I’m working on if I don’t have something of my own to use. Material things wishlist: I’d love to have a big open room added onto our small house. Our growing family barely fits in our living room/dining room any more when we get together at our house. It’s not going to happen, but it’s a fun thing to think about. Spiritual wishlist: to get deeper into God’s Word.

2. What is your designing routine, i.e. do you get a snack, put on music, get organized and then work on a kit until its finished or do you pop in and out as time allows?

ANSWER: I thought when I retired from my day job, I would keep a designing/scrapping routine. But, I’m sad to say I have not followed through on that hope. I’m more sporadic in my designing now than when I was working full-time. I design when the inspiration hits and work as hard and often as possible until the inspiration fades. I try not to snack when I design. Rather I get up from the computer and eat/snack. I had a bad habit when I worked that I’d snack almost all the time, so I’m trying to break that habit.

3. When you scrap, do you use your own products?

ANSWER: I use a lot of my own products. Very often when I design a kit, I have certain photos in mind. So, I use that kit for those photos. But, I do enjoy using kits from other designers.

4. What is your all-time favorite product OR what is your best selling product(s)?

ANSWER: I think my favorite kit of my own designs is A Study in Yellow and Grey: Sunshine and Shadows. Those items were created for one of our CAKE (create a kit event) with all designers using the same color palette. When I first saw the color swatch I didn’t think I could come up with anything . . . how could I design something with only two main colors and how would anyone use it. LOL. But, once I got into designing, it was hard to stop. The possibilities were almost limitless! I find myself going back often to use that kit for my layouts. I love the neutral grays and blacks. And it’s really surprising how often the yellow color fits in as a spot color. My best selling kits are The Most Wonderful Place on Earth series. My series From the Attic is also a good seller. The daily giveaway for my featured designer spot is from a new kit in that series.

5. What are your reasons or motivations for digital scrapbooking?

ANSWER: I mainly scrap photos of my family (children and grandchildren). I want to preserve memories for them. In years to come hopefully they will know how much they were loved and cherished. Since I started as a paper scrapper, my digital layouts reflect that. Most of them are pretty simple, with the focus on the photo(s) and journaling.

6. What is the best food you ever ate? Describe.

ANSWER: I don’t really have a most favorite food or place to eat. Right now I love the Wild West Shrimp at Longhorn Steakhouse . . . that and a side salad . . . yum! Next week my favorite might be something else at a different place. My fave food is never anything I make myself. LOL.

7. Where is your “happy place?”

ANSWER: At my computer is probably my “solitary happy place.” Most often wherever my family is (all together or separately) is a happy place.

8. If you won the lottery, how would you spend the winnings?

ANSWER: Well, if we won the lottery I wouldn’t need that additional room on my current house I mentioned in question 1. LOL. We’d have whole new house with that huge family room built in. My husband would be able to go buy the biggest “bestest” truck he wants. Of course, the kids and grandkids would benefit. I’d pay off all their mortgages and add to the grandkids’ college funds. I’d make a large anonymous donation to the church building fund. I think it would be fun to be able to help others, not because they ask, but because they deserve.

9. If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, who would you choose and what would you want to talk about?

ANSWER: I would like to meet my paternal grandfather who died before I was born. I’d love to ask him about his parents and/or grandparents who came over from Scotland. There have been stories passed down, but by now we don’t know what is true and what has been embellished upon.

10. What else should we know about you?

ANSWER: As long as I’ve been at Digitals (seven years), there’s probably not anything more to tell that anyone really wants to know. LOL.

Thank you for reading this far . . . :-) This is the perfect opportunity to thank those of you who have been participants in the scripture challenge and to those who ever purchased any of my products. In this day’s economy and with the great number of digital designers/stores, I (and everyone at Digitals) appreciate your business and friendship.

Featured Designer ~ Kits4Kids

Hi, friends! Kits4Kids is the combined designs of Kristina (Kristmess) and Kathryn (Estry). We’re really excited to be featured at Digitals and will have our K4K store 30% off from December 8 – 21!  You’ll find pieces of this new page kit for free in our K4K store each day during this period, and there are several matching sets in our store as well. Enjoy!

Interview:

1. Do you keep a wishlist? If so, what is your MOST WANTED item at the moment?

Kristina:  No I don’t really keep a wish list.  I try not to wish for things I know I probably can’t ever get!!  Would love to have Photoshop CS5 though.

Kathryn: Since we just moved into a new home, my wish list has all sorts of decorating things on it.  It’s coming together though and is so fun!

2. What is your designing routine, i.e. do you get a snack, put on music, get organized and then work on a kit until its finished or do you pop in and out as time allows?

Kristina:  I have to pop in and out as time allows I’m afraid, as I don’t have much choice with a bunch of demanding kids but I do tend to like to work and work until something is finished, so with no distractions I’d probably do that.

Kathryn:  It’s usually quiet when I’m designing, but for some things such as cutting out alphas that don’t take any thought, I move in from of the TV and catch up on shows I’ve recorded.

3. When you scrap, do you use your own products?

Both:  Yes, usually, but we each have favorite designers as well.

4. What is your all-time favorite product OR what is your best selling product(s)?

Both:  Our best-selling product in our Kits 4 Kids store is our Be Prepared Bundle, a collection for scouts.

5. What are your reasons or motivations for digital scrapbooking?

Both: We love it!!!

6. What is the best food you ever ate? Describe.

Kristina:  Oh that’s tough!  I really love Mexican food, but if you are meaning one particular item then that has to be my Grandmother’s Chocolate Eclairs – describe them?  – YUMMY!!

Kathryn:  I have a sweet tooth, too.  My favorite is a cherry cheesecake layered desert that I don’t dare make very often.

7. Where is your “happy place?”

Kristina:  I’m not sure I have one really.

Kathryn:  I’m the happiest at home, especially when my kids and grandkids are here.

8. If you won the lottery, how would you spend the winnings?

Kristina:  Depending on how much I won, I think the first thing I’d do is take my boys home to UK to see my family again.  Next I’d pay off debts and if there was any left over I’d save it for the boys education.

Kathryn:  I’d put money aside for my grandkids’ education and for our future, and I’d take a trip around the world with my sweet Robert.

9. If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, who would you chose and what would you want to talk about?

Kristina:  Hmm.. I think I’d like to meet my Grandmother, who died when I was just a baby, I’d probably talk about my mum and what she was like growing up, I’d also ask her about all her family members, her parents, grandparents etc.  Get all the skeletons out of the closet!!

Kathryn:  I’d also like to bring family back.  I’d love more than anything to have both of my parents back to meet Robert and to get to know my children, Tommy and Brandi, as adults and to meet their families.   They loved the kids so much and I know it would make them so happy!

10. What else should we know about you?

Kristina:  There’s not much else to know about me, I’m a pretty simple and ordinary person.

Kathryn:  I don’t agree with Kristina.  She’s the sweetest friend and a great mommy!  For me, you probably already know, but I LOVE dancing!  Robert and I love all of the ballroom rhythms and have loads of fun in all our classes.  We dance at least once a week, and it’s so fun!

Hi everyone, Lynne here, (aka Aria) and I am excited to be Digital’s Featured Designer for the next two weeks.  My entire store is at 35% off from October 13th through the 26th.  Most of my elements are created to size up or down, and they can be used with almost any kit, but see for yourself with my sample freebie! In the Daily Downloads, I have a freebie each of the 14 days, so be sure to collect them all, they make a great kit!

1. Do you keep a wish list? If so, what is your MOST WANTED item at the moment?

At the risk of sounding phony, my wants are few these days. My wish list is now for health and safety.  One fabulous thing about getting older is that you realize how little “things” mean, and you are finally able to concentrate on emotional needs, like opening up to your creativity!

2. What is your designing routine, i.e. do you get a snack, put on music, get organized and then work on a kit until it’s finished or do you pop in and out as time allows?

My schedule starts at 6:30 AM, after I get my coffee brewing (my favorite time of day).  I keep a list of things I must do, secondary things I want to do, and a wish list of things I probably won’t get to, but would like to.  LOL, I start with the needs and once in a while throw sensibility to the winds and just play!   I will continue to work on a kit as long as the inspiration lasts, as I have found when I try to push beyond that, I seldom like what I have produced.  So I guess in short, I pop in and out.

3. When you scrap, do you use your own products?

I primarily use other Designers products with styles that I don’t design in, and mix in some of my own.  But unfortunately time is limited so I don’t scrap as much these days.

4. What is your all-time favorite product OR what is your best selling product(s)?

Hmm, I think my favorite is the Follow Your Art Series, which is all about self growth; But the most fun kit was Funky Morning, part of the CAKE series! I love the creamer (one with and one without the cream) and coffee cup (did I mention morning coffee was my favorite time of day? LOL)

5. What are your reasons or motivations for digital scrapbooking?

I found that over the many years of working in a non-artistic industry, my need to create and produce something artistic was overpowering.  I believe everyone has a creative soul, and we all need to find the source and allow it to grow

6. What is the best food you ever ate? Describe.

LOL, I love food.  Believe it or not, my all time favorite was ratatouille at a French restaurant.  I was with a group of people, and the food was divine, but I LOVED the ratatouille!  So everyone passed me their portion and I ate it all! Oink oink.

7. Where is your “happy place?”

My home. I am a homebody. Within my home, my favorite place is our tiny living room converted to a library. We lined the walls with shelves to hold my books, it fits one comfy chair and one small lamp table, and that is where I love to go to read, listen to music and regenerate. Outside, my happy place is my garden where I get inspiration for a lot of my kits (I love to make nature elements that would go into almost any page)

8. If you won the lottery, how would you spend the winnings?

Ah, we all have dreams of that, don’t we? Well, depending on the amount, after making sure my entire family and close friends are set and some favorite causes supported, I would travel and take everyone with me, LOL.

9. If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, who would you chose and what would you want to talk about?

Not even a hesitation: Leonardo Di Vinci. Can you imagine someone from that timeframe inventing things like a helicopter? Both a technical and creative genius, his imagination and curiosity would make him the most interesting human we have ever read about!

10. What else should we know about you?

I struggle to communicate in words, so bear with me.  I love life.  I believe strongly that we all have purpose; we just need to individually figure out what that is, listen to our inner voice more, follow our intuition, and have more faith in ourselves.  I create to remind myself daily of what is important to me – living, not just surviving.

Featured Designer: Laitha’s Designs

Hi everyone!

Mariella here, aka Laitha of Laitha’s Designs!

These are ‘my’ two weeks as featured designer at Digitals and I am so excited about it as it’s the first time for me even if there are 2 years that I am part of the great Digitals team ;-)

My Store is at 30% off until Oct 12 so don’t miss this opportunity!

Also don’t forget that I have a super nice mini kit that you can grab piece by piece with Daily Downloads

If you don’t want to wait, you can also buy it in my Store ;-)

Now, something about me ;-)

Stacey planned a nice interview to give me some guidelines to present myself to my dear customers and fans .. please remember that I am from Italy so I speak ItalEnglish so forgive my errors :-)

1.      Do you keep a wishlist? If so, what is your MOST WANTED item at the moment?

I don’t keep a wish list .. I just know that at the first place I always have the wish to travel around the world, better if I can go where there are Sun, Sand and Sea!

2.      What is your designing routine, i.e. do you get a snack, put on music, get organized and then work on a kit until it’s finished or do you pop in and out as time allows?

Usually I design in the afternoon, watching with some TV series and with my two cats around or just sleeping near my desk. I prefer to avoid getting snack (I am almost always on diet or at least I try :-P ) but I drink a lot of coffee .. When I can I try to work on a kit until I finish it.

3.      When you scrap, do you use your own products?

I don’t have much time to scrap but I confess that I LOVE to do it with kits of some of my preferred artists ;-)

4.      What is your all-time favorite product OR what is your best selling product(s)?

Good question! Every collection I make become my ‘favorite’ until the next ones :-D . My best selling kits are the ‘vintage and shabby’ styled and quite neutrals in colors. I have to say that also my CU products are really appreciated by the designers because I am very careful and precise in taking care of their quality.

5.      What are your reasons or motivations for digital scrapbooking?

Discover to be creative has been a surprise for me in the past: I’ve always loved photography and the next step was to start scrapping going digital and then create my own products.

6.      What is the best food you ever ate? Describe.

Absolutely sushi! I love it! – Second place, Italian pizza :-)

7.      Where is your “happy place?”

My home with my family and my cats

8.      If you won the lottery, how would you spend the winnings?

Hmm .. the first thing that I can think of is to give money and money to my family to get what they want! For me I think you should refer to point 1. :-) )) I would spend good part of the money to travel!

9.      If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, who would you chose and what would you want to talk about?

My rational side says Bertrand Russel to talk about math and philosophy.

Curious about my funny/crazy side? :-) George Clooney to go out for dinner with sushi and good white wine :-)

10.   What else should we know about you?

I love and dance Cuban Salsa, I read a lot and like watching TV series. Well .. to be able to make everything I love I’d have a 48 hours day!

Thanks for taking the time to read about me and for choosing my products!
