Default Which Digital camera for web designer, for small images?

I need small razor sharp detailed images for web design, anything down to 100px x 100px or even lower, i don't understand digital cameras, for example a picture taken at 8mp gives an image at 3264px x 2448px, it can be detailed yes but far too big to work with or crop how am i meant to work with that??

Since you don't need high resolution photos any decent digital camera should work for you. The good news is that there are a lot of good cameras out there with lower resolution at great prices.

Your 8MP camera will work fine, also. Most good photo editing softwares have a "save for web" feature. Just make sure you change your resolution (generally 72 ppi for the web) before you change the width and height dimensions. If your original image is detailed and razor sharp, it will remain so when resized.

Diana is right! Use your good camera for best quality.

For absolute highest quality, resize your image first to 72 ppi, (IMAGE>IIMAGE SIZE from the main menu), make sure you have Bicubic Sharper option chosen in the pull down menu at the bottom of your dialog box for Image Size. This is your best for reduction to keep your crispness you desire.
Then perform your File>Save for Web from the main menu and changing to your final size width and height there.
