How have music and other forms of artistic expression influenced your faith? Do you have favorite songs or hymns? Perhaps you’ve been influenced by sacred dance, beautiful art, drama, Christian radio, certain music groups, etc.
Music has been the most influential of the arts on my spiritual life. I like everything from hymns to Contemporary Christian and lots of things in between. One of the first things that changed when I began my Christian walk, was my radio station. I switched from pop/Top 40 to contemporary Christian. I suddenly felt sickened by some of the lyrics of the songs I used to enjoy. I found DC Talk which has a similar sound to what I was used to listening to in secular music, but with a powerful Christian message. We were fortunate enough to go to several of their concerts in Phoenix and I also got to meet them at a book signing.
Music has influenced our choice of churches too. CITD sang mainly hymns during the service we attended. Shiloh and Vanguard have bands and sing contemporary music. I still love both, but prefer more upbeat, rock style music. Some of my favorite hymns are Amazing Grace; White as Snow; Oh For A Thousand Tongues To Sing; and Holy, Holy, Holy. Some of my favorite Christian groups/singers are DC Talk, Third Day, Chris Tomlin, Dave Crowder, and the Newsboys. Music can quickly evoke an emotional response or memory for me.
beautiful page and wonderful journaling, Stacey! I don't know if I ever told you, but my DD plays piano for the youth worship band at our church, and they do a wide variety of contemporary Christian music, so she has given me a great exposure to all the groups you mention. Thanks for sharing this!

This page turned out beautifully, Stacey! Great job on the journaling as always. Angies Art Journal kit was the perfect choice for this page.

I thought your journaling was very interesting. Some of those groups I am familiar with and some not. I liked the elements created out of sheet music - great for your theme!
