the non-penguin birds are part of the King Things Christmas 2 special characters. aren't they cute???

here's the journaling:

We moved from southern California to New Jersey when Russell was five. Being a California boy, he had never seen snow (other than in pictures and on the Matterhorn at Disneyland). You can imagine his delight at the first snowfall! But he came in after 15 minutes saying it was really cold!
