When I saw this months Scripture Art, I knew I wanted to do a LO about our upcoming Haiti Missions Trip. I also wanted to scrap my blog post - to remember some of the things that happened - pre-Haiti.....

Our youth group is going on a missions
trip to Haiti in June. We are less than
2 months away from this life changing
journey. We are going HAFF Haitian
American Friendship Foundation – a
non-profit, interdenominational Christian
ministry which partners among the
Haitians of the Central Plateau of
Haiti through academic, vocational
and theological education to enrich lives
spiritually, economically and socially, all
to the glory of God.

We are so excited about this opportunity to go and serve in this
ministry. We have been working hard – tip night at Pizza Ranch,
bake sale, gleaning corn (this past fall), and we have several fund raisers in the next month... Any funds that exceed our traveling expenses, will go directly to HAFF.

As we are preparing for this trip, it breaks my heart (and beyond my comprehension) the poverty that exists in Haiti. Did you know that Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere? (It is the 20th poorest country in the world). We recently heard that they may have electricity in rural parts of Haiti – for the 1st time. The children there face extreme hunger daily. We want to go there and help (and work hard) in any way that we can! In the next few weeks, I will be sharing things that we will be doing while we are there.

I never thought I would ever take a foreign missions trip. Being a homeschooling, mother of 9 children, with 7 still at home – I never thought it was possible. But this past fall, when our missionaries were sharing this ministry opportunity – God stirred in my heart a desire to “GO”. I don’t know why I am being “called”, but I do know that God will use me. I plan and want to work hard – harder than I have in my whole life. I want to share the life changing message of God’s love – but I want to be able to serve them in any way I can. Please pray with me, that our journey there will make an impact on the lives that we touch while we are there (I also know that it will change our lives as well – it is already making me aware of people in need around me).
