We had to backtrack from Loch Vale to get the trail to Mills Lake. The scenery was absolutely spectacular! We walked to the end of Mills and ate lunch on a huge rock outcrop. Re-energized, we continued the short stretch to Jewel, and a bit beyond, where much of the trail was on elevated boardwalks across a boggy area. When a hiker heading out reported the trail ahead was mostly in forest, with limited views, we called it a day, well satisfied with our tour of Glacier Gorge, a total of 8.5 miles in six hours.
