Thousands of newborns die each year because their basic needs, including warmth, are not met. An organization I learned about, Save the Children.org, does all kinds of things to help newborns and children get a better start in life including making kits for children. These kits include basic needs items such as nourishment, medical supplies including immunizations, and items for warmth. One of the programs was called "Caps to the Capital" which was for knitters and crocheters to make newborn sized caps for the babies. I ended up crocheting 34 hats and feel that if one of my caps makes it to one teeny tiny newborn head to keep it warm then it was definitely worth my effort.
So here is my layout...a self portrait of me with my caps.
