I finally did the sketch layout I've been wanting to do for so long. I love this effect and borrowed most of the idea from my ol' signature-making buddy, Veronica.
This is a picture of my son, Adam and his cousin Tyson in N. CA when we lived there.
I used my Black & White Photo Kit for this layout.
For the sketch effect I used a script in PSP9, although I know that JASC also used to have a good tutorial for it somewhere on their website (I can't find it now...they've revamped their website).
For the page curl, I used the page curl filter in Filters Unlimited by ICnet, but there are lots of them out there.

Edited to say that I found some tutorials for the pencil sketch that are pretty good. Here are a couple of links for you to try out: Sketch 1 (this is similar to the way I learned from JASC...here is basically the same tutorial, but a little more in-depth: Sketch 2(this one you'd just stop before adding the mask) Sketch 3
I wanted to give you a few options so that you could see what works best for you.
Have fun!
Oh my goodness! This is wonderful. I love this LO. I've got to play around some more with PS filters or whatever you used to get this effect. Love the curled edge with the color photo under it. I love all the filters in the film/negative strip at the bottom.
OMG Kathy this is sooo cool. I love all the effects you used. I can't stop looking at it. This is so neat. It is so cool to look at one picture in so many different ways. I love this. I am so going to have to scraplift this idea! You are a genious!

Amazing! I would love to learn to do this technique. I guess that is where the "sketch artist" part comes in...which I am not! I especially like the curled border. Outstanding job.

Kathy, you've done an awesome job of this. I love what you've done with the main photo. Very clever and totally cool!!
Kathy,
I LOVE the effect with this LO! I have a special photo in mind of my two boys that this would be spectacular for! If only I had the time to sit and work on it. Someday......maybe when the boys are both in school???? LOL! Nice work!
