The beach is my happy place! Journaling reads: Everyone has one--that special place where they can go where everything is ok with the world, where they can go to clear their head, refresh, or contemplate. That place for me is the beach. I love to feel the sand between my toes, to feel the wind on my face, to hear the seagulls screaching. I love the smell of the ocean and the warmth of the sun as it beats down on the sand. A calmness and serenity engulfs me when the beach comes into view. My head clears and time stands still. It is the one place I can go where I know that no matter what is going on in my life or the world, I am alive and all is well. Loren Eisley said, "Every time we walk along a beach some ancient urge disturbs us so that we find ourselves shedding shoes and garments or scavenging among the seaweed and whitened timbers like the homesick refugees of a long war." When I am at the beach, I am homesick no more. I know who I am, where I've been, and most importantly, I know where I should go.
